2012 Samford Show

Hi Readers, what a weekend the GAP promo team have had at the Samford show. It was possibly the wettest show we attended and have already named it Dogstock due to the mud. It was also a great show with the usual Samford friendliness and love for the greys.

I hope you enjoy the pics -

Did I mention the rain and the water everywhere?

And the mud?
Setting up on the morning of day one.
 Me in my GAP bandanna.
These guys were being sold on the stand next to us. Several covert missions to obtain them all failed.
"Can you tell me where to find Murphy's display"
A dragon emerged from the sand on day one...
... to morph into a  Mario Puzo inspired sculpture on day two.
A rump view of the tent pegging demonstration...
... with a muzzle shot of the follow through.
 "What are ewe looking at?"
Um, this picture is unrelated to the one above. Nothing to see here, move along citizen!
Police recruiting standards seem to have slipped in recent years.
A big scary thing. Oh, and a dinosaur on the loose in the Samford showgrounds.
A couple of kids being cute.
Eddie and friend.
There was some unpleasantness between Eddie and Star over the ownership of an angry bird stuffed toy.
Dr Harry was swept away in the crowds coming to see me.
Chatting about hounds while the sun baked us into the setting mud.
Prancer needed some support from Laura after a long day on the stand.
This cheeky fellow was there for the pet parade. Mmmm, I do love a good roast bird!
Lots of pats and cuddles were given and received over the weekend.
Our day two volunteers smiling in the bog.
One of these things is not like the others!
Prancer pretends to shake hands with an unsuspecting visitor when he was really putting a muddy paw print motif on his clothing.
 Mud bros.
No Ecky Thump here, more like welly-fu
New boy Ozzy gets some tips on his first promo from old hand Prancer.
For those that remember my post A New Beginning this is the lovely Toby now aged six months. He dropped in to see us today and give cuddles.
Its not a dove with an olive branch in its mouth but this kookaburra showed up as we were leaving and the sun started to shine. We are all looking forward to Samford 2013!

Well Readers, I'm off for my second bath in two days (the horror) followed by dinner and a very long snooze. Thank you so much to everybody who volunteered and bought their humans to the show. Bye for now - Murphy.

GAP Family Walk June

Good morning Readers, today was day of our monthly walk for the Brisbane GAP family so Dad, Ozzy and I headed off to the city botanic gardens to meet up with everybody.

It was another lovely winters morning for the walk and we certainly attracted a lot of attention from the joggers and other visitors to the park as we walked through the various garden types on display.

I hope you enjoy the pictures of my beautiful city -

Such colour in the middle of winter - fantastic to live in Queensland.
A lovely leash of hounds with their humans.
Craft moored at Gardens Point, I spotted a few sailor dogs on board during the walk.
Greyt to see some new faces along with our regulars at today's walk.
"Jemmy Morrill and the Brolgas" A sculpture depicting a shipwrecked sailor who lived with the aborigines circa 1840.
Sometimes you just have to stop to smell the roses lavender.
Bear takes the lead in the GAP walk endurance event.
Word soon got out that I was in the city and people flocked to see me.
Aunty Suzanne and Uncle Steve with their family.
The gang takes a rest on the board walk through the mangroves.
Ozzy gets sand between his toes along the river bank.
"Que?"
A view of the Story bridge through the trees as we left the gardens.

Its also greyt to see so many hounds with their forever families. We greyhounds are the best kept secret in the pet world but don't tell anybody I told you. Bye for now - Murphy.

Finally, a fine weekend!

Hi Readers, I'm often asked about the other animals that I graciously share my home with. As today was the first fine weekend day for ages Dad was able to mow the lawn and then we went on a walk to visit the outdoor family and neighbours.

I hope you like the photographs -

Rocky the wonder goat says hi.
Patty and Selma Tia and Lucy keep an eye on proceedings. Lucy is Rocky's mum.
Our neighbours at RDA's cartmill centre doing the wonderful work they do to help special kiddies have fun while improving their balance and confidence.
Some free loading ducks on one of the dams.
 An arty water reflection shot.
Lucy is never far from her boy in case he needs her.
Our of our neighbours having a chat over the fence.
He also wanted to get a better look at the RDA horses.
"That's the second biggest dog I've ever seen" says Homer.
Ok, who can say that they don't enjoy a good ear scratch every now and then.
Prancer worn out after the property inspection.

Thanks for stopping by Readers. I must go and have my lunch and then perhaps a snooze. Until next time - Murphy

Happy Birthday To Me!

Hi Readers, its my 7th birthday tomorrow so Mum and Dad gave me my present today as we all have to go to work tomorrow (well, I'll be here keeping an eye on the pack but that's my full time job).

7 is almost this many toes. I'm glad I was able to hold the camera in my mouth as this was a really hard picture to take.
Dad took this one of me enjoying my present. It is very yummy and I'll get a few more days out of it yet.

Anyway readers, I off to bed on this cold and wet public holiday evening to reflect on my good fortune. I was fostered by my auntie Adele, adopted into a loving family with Mum and Dad, I have become an internationally read blogger,  have meet heaps of famous people in my role as a GAP ambassador and helped many, many other fine hounds find their forever homes. Not bad for a lad who wouldn't chase a plastic lure. Bye for now - Murphy.

GAP Family Walk May

Hi Readers, its was another beautiful autumnal day for the GAP family walk today. Prancer, Eddie and Ozzie headed off with Mum and Dad to Carindale to meet up with everybody else while I stayed at home to keep an eye on things.

There was a greyt turnout and everybody really enjoyed getting together for a walk and talk (humans love talking, have you noticed?). Anyway, I hope you enjoy the pictures -

Greyt to see such a terrific turnout of greys and their owners.
Marissa who was there with Tabbi gives Honey a pat.
This is why flatmates should all be from the same state! Rocky shows his true colours for the State of origin series.
On the walk with some of the pack.

The handsome Jay Jay cools down after the walk.
Former house of hound foster Sally was there with her family.
Target Acquired. Prancer keeps an eye on the small fluffies that were disturbing the peace on a Sunday morning.
Honourary greyhound Cilla was there.
As was her sister Mini who has forgotten her sunglasses.
Sam and his human Kristy came up from the Gold Coast for the walk.
I have warned Eddie about eating things he finds on walks. He says he ate some mushrooms and can't remember much after that.

Anyway Readers, now that Mum and Dad have arrived home I can sign off from my caretaker duties and go back to having have a snooze in the sun. Everybody is looking forward to the next months walk. Bye for now - Murphy.
