Dog's Breakfast 25 January

Hi, Murphy here. Today was our first Dog's breakfast of the year and there was a great turnout. It was also one of the most humid days in Brisbane's history. We were all soaked from the humidity and then the heavens opened and we were soaked by a rain storm. A wet greyhound is not a happy greyhound! Here are some pics of Oscar the foster, me (of course) and the only option I had to cool down after our walk around the Roma Street Parklands

NSW GAP on Sunrise!

Here is a link to the NSW Greyhound Adoption Program being featured on Sunrise (A Channel 7 national morning news and variety show that runs weekdays from 06:00 to 09:00). Even though they aren't Queenslanders, I thought I would put it on my blog to help my fellow hounds that need a home. The things we do!

Happy Snaps of some of the fur kids

Oscar unwrapping Christmas Presents
Foster girl Sally using Cherry as a pillow.
Honey & Cherry the 2 little girls are both 11 and very cute and handle life with the greys very well.

gorgeous Murphy

I had an overwhelming desire to do something happy today as it has been an emotional week with the passing of our beloved Muddy last Saturday and the funeral for Russ's Auntie Pam on Tuesday.

So what could be better than spending time with the kids who give so much love and then while looking for photo's for Alex I came across these and they made me happy and made me smile so I thought I would post them for everyone and hope they make you smile to.
( sorry Alex I don't think any of them are what your looking for) I will keep searching though.

After all the stress of the past few days, the hounds decided that a nice relaxing day was just the thing. Here is Oscar chilling out on the lounge.
Despite his outgoing personality, he really is just a big puppy who loves everybody (except the bull terrier up the road who he woofs at as a matter of course on his walks with his foster dad).

Here is our shy foster Homer practising his "no photos please" pose for his next media engagement. Homer has made a lot of progress with us so far but still has a way to go before he fully trusts humans again. He is a gentle darling with a lovely nature who will make a great and loyal companion.

Farewell Muddy

There is much sadness at the house of hound today as our old mate Muddy has passed away. He was a lovely gentle boy who liked a scratch and to steal the chicken's laying mash when he thought we werent looking. He was a great companion to our other paddock dwellers & he loved to teach young Rocky the finer points of head butting as he grew up. We are'nt sure how old he was but he was an old boy when we arrived here in 2004.

He even managed to put up with the greys using the front strip of his paddock as a racetrack and speeding around when he was trying to eat and lay in the sun.

Goodbye Muddy, we all love you very much. Please give our love to all our other furkids who are on the other side.

Happy New Year to all (& happy birthday Homer!)

Another new year has begun so everybody at the house of hound would like to wish all a happy new year.

January is also Homer's birth month. We don't know a date yet so Mum & Dad decided the first was as good a date as any to celebrate. It was pigs ears all around followed by a good sleep. This is a picture of Homer after he snuck up on the lounge for a sleep. he has also been spotted on Mum's side of the bed when she stays up to watch the movies she got for Christmas.

I will have to make sure my role as #1 hound stays in place if this keeps up!
