GAP's February 2012 Walk.

Hi Readers, Mum, Dad and the house of hound horde headed off to Nudgee beach today for GAP's February walk.

We would like to thank Huey for holding off on the rain and providing us with a great morning for a paddle, not too hot, not too cold but just right.

Eddie the escapologist managed to get away twice this morning, once by tipping Mum into the sea and the other by chewing through his harness. Luckily for Eddie, he was rugby tackled both times before he could come to harm. We may have to upgrade him to the Hannibal Lecter style of harness a la silence of the lambs.

I hope you enjoy the pictures -

"Last one in is a rotten pooch". Vader heads for the water.
Brother Homer and yours truly looking fine.
Wally makes a new friend.
"What do you mean my lunch is on that boat?"
Current house of hound foster Mini meets her potential new Mum, Dad and canine sister Cilla.
One hound and his human have a sprint.
Aunties Marnie and Leanne with Tibby and Pumpkin.
A fine leash of hounds (although Dad has unkindly suggested that a group of greyhounds should be called a methane or a flatulence).
After much deliberation it was decided that the tide was coming in and that the vertically challenged amongst us could soon be in trouble.
Heading for the safety of the shore and a chat afterwards.

Its always great to catch up with so many greys and their humans. It looks like Homer's current crush Mini may have found a home and that's great even if it means Homer will be playing his emo MP3s long into the evening over the coming weeks.

Anyway Readers, I'm off for a de-sanding and then a snooze. Bye for now - Murphy.

Meet Mini

Hi Readers, I'd like to introduce you to Mini. Mini is a three year old girl who has been staying with us following her de-sexing operation on Friday.

She is a gentle cuddly girl that is getting on well with everybody here, including Honey the westie warrior. Even Homer thinks she is cute, he has been getting around humming "you sexy thing" with a big smile on his face.

Anyway Readers, I better go and keep an eye on Homer. Bye for now - Murphy.

2011 Greyhound of the Year

Hi Readers, I'm up early this morning but I can't say the same for the rest of the household who attended Racing Greenland's 2011 Greyhound of the Year awards at the Brisbane Sofitel last night.

Of course, I'm the greyhound of the year every year but these awards were for my fellow hounds who are still racing. It seems my zero wins from zero starts isn't good enough these days.

Anyway, Mum, Dad and Aunty Gail attended and said it was a great night.  The night was hosted by Chris "Bomber" Bombolas assisted by well known industry professionals. The girls got to catch up with our sponsors from Big Dog Pet foods and Bayer and spread the good word about GAP. Gail was interviewed by Steve Hawkins (no, not the wheelchair bound genius, pay attention here people) and presented an award for "Brood bitch of the year" (snicker).  Well done Solid Skye.

I hope you like the photos -

A view of down town Brisbane from the ball room at the Sofitel.
Mum and Aunty Gail early on.

Aunty Gail announcers the award winner, on stage with Steve Hawkins who later interviewed her about the great work GAP does for the industry.

Anyway readers, apparently I've been typing too loudly so I must be off. Congratulations to Dashing Corsair who won the main title last night and to all the other winners. - bye for now - Murphy.

Must Love Dogs Keperra

Hi Readers, it was off the the wilds of Keperra today for the 1st GAP promo of the year.  We had heaps of greys show up and we met some lovely people who wanted to adopt. It was another hot Brisbane and we left just in time to avoid a thunder storm.

I hope you enjoy the pics-

 The "wilds" of Keperra!
High on a hill was a lonely goatherd (or a herd of goats, or something, I'm not Julie Andrews you know).

The source of the snuffling and , um, flatulence at the dog park was soon discovered.
This little guy dropped in to see us.
Sara watches on as Custard checks the water level.
Custard then cools off the only way she could.
 Team Bailey on the move.
Getting to know the locals over a drink.
Heaps of visitors dropped in to see me the GAP stand.
This little guy won a prize for his tricks.
"Aw come on, its my turn in the bucket".
Mindy flattens out on some cool grass.
Yours truly on my way to visit the other displays at the park.
Cole uses his hpno-eyes on the crowd.
Custard gives a potential adopter a test drive.
Eddie gives out some greyhound lovin' to some young visitors.
Jay Jay and I loved the bedding from big dog pet foods.

Thanks to all our volunteers and their hounds who helped make today such a greyt day. Anyway Readers, I must be off to shut the windows as the storm that was approaching as we left the promo has reached the house of hound. Bye for now - Murphy.
