GAP Brisbane's 2012 Christmas Party

Hi Readers, today was our Christmas party and I was so excited to see everybody at Decker Park at Brighton. We had about one hundred humans and almost as many dogs at today's party and it was lovely to see some of our trainers and owners drop in with the next batch of GAP recruits.

The guys from the BBQ company did a great job and we all enjoyed sausages, bacon, eggs and fruit juices for breakfast.

I hope you enjoy the photographs -

Just another beautiful Queensland morning!
The park was quiet when we arrived ...
.. but soon it was full of greyhounds and their owners enjoying themselves.
The queue for breakfast starts here!
Santa Portia dropped by to spread some Christmas Cheer.
Luna and Zuma are the best of friends so we made Luna a grey for the day.
Honourary greyhound Gus made us all smile with his costume.
 As did big sister Dreamy.
A nice family shot of these two Border Collies and their kin.
We had the pick of the park today and chose a nice shady area.
Tia came dressed as a Christmas tree and gets a hug from her human.
Big sisters can come in handy some times.
Some of the party goers.
Luna keeps hydrated in the hot weather.
 Barb with her hound Saddle.
This plover thought he might be Christmas lunch if he attacked the greys so decided to bother these Lycra louts instead.
Aunty Gail and Mum (and me!) talking about what a great year GAP has had.
Beck presented Aunty Gail and Mum with a lovely thank you card for all their hard work with the hounds this year.
We all went for a paddle after breakfast (and before dessert) as it was so hot today.
Eddie walking on water. I think he looks like a giant prawn!
Sue and Kristy with hounds Kyle and Sam cooling down.
 Yours truly having a paddle...
.. while Liam found another way to stay chilled.
Gracie appears to have lost her purse and high heels. Dad says he sees this a lot on the train.
So many party goers and their humans. Its fantastic to see how popular I greyhounds are.

Thanks again to Mum and Aunty Gail for organising today and for their long hours at GAP finding homes for we greys and educating the public about our gentle natures. We had dozens of dogs who didn't know each other here today and everybody got on really well. Thanks to everybody who bought along yummy treats for usl.WellReaders, I got a little too much sun today so I'm off for a snooze. Bye for now - Murphy.

Dog's Breakfast at Boondall.

Hi Readers, for our last promotion of the year we headed to the Muller Road dog park at Boondall for the local council's dog's breakfast. We all had a great time and loved meeting all the local pups and their owners.

I hope you enjoy the pictures-

Part of the welcoming committee at the Boondall dog park.
Me looking smart in my Christmas collar.
Ozzy being cute for the camera.
Eddie doing his hypnotoad impersonation.
Our calender girl Holly.
These two cuties arrived just after we did and came up to say hello.
What a couple of swells are brother Ozzy and I in our matching collars.
GAP favourite and Delta dog Jay Jay dropped in to say hi on his way to the old folks home to brighten their day.
Ozzy watches on as a small fluffy terrorises other pooches in the park.
Getting ready for the fancy dress parade.
Me playing peek a boo with one of the human pups that visited today.
Mum and the boys talking about hounds to some potential adopters. How could they resist?
Ozzy gets a Christmas kiss from this young pup.
Today there was a sighting of the rare minisaurus and bumble bee dog at the park.
Xena got too hot at her display and popped into our shade to cool down and have a pat.
Ozzy meet this young one while queuing for the sausage sizzle. He thinks she wants to be a loin tamer as she kept patting his tongue.
Can't a dog get any privacy. Me trying to sneak away from the display for some me time.
This young lovely had a roll in the water dish then a role in the dirt. Won't her mum be happy when she finds out!
Councillor Newton cutting the ribbon on the new shelter at the dog park. Not a moment too soon either as it was so hot today.
See, told you it was hot!
Councillor Newton with Mum, Auntie Marnie, Holly, Jess and the pack.
One of the local artworks near the park. I'm going to sneak back one night and do a Banksy on it greyhound style.

Thanks for stopping by Readers. Its our Christmas party tomorrow so I'm off for a snooze to make sure I'm at my best. Bye for now - Murphy.

Farewell Honey 1996 - 2012

Hello Readers, it is a very sad day at the house of hound today as our sister Honey has gone to the rainbow bridge.

Honey came to Mum and Dad as a ball of fluff and over the years she had many occupations - rabbit rouser, kangaroo chaser, cattle keeper, goat galler, ratter, security guard, biter of policemen, council workers and tradesmen, GAP test dog , a pillow for the greys and a fierce protector of Mum.

I will miss her standing under me to have a cuddle.

One of my favourite pictures of Honey aka the cougar.

Anyway Readers, I'm off for a cry and a lie down. Until next time - Murphy.

November GAP Walk

Good morning Readers, Dad, Ozzy, Eddie and I are just back from the GAP walk at Wynnum. Brisbane has been having "super cell" storms all weekend so we weren't sure if the walk would be on but being brave souls we decided to give it a go.

We didn't get too many pics this time given the rain and Dad's hound minding duties.

Pfft, what is a little precipitation to worry about? Brisbane city last night.

Say "greyhound!"

I knew Dad was busy with Ozzy and Eddie so I walked another human today. Thanks to Buffy's man for taking care of me.
Hello to the potential adopters who turned up to meet me us. Unfortunately Simba was inspired by my famous tanty dance this morning (usually done to accompany me rooing to Tone Loc's funky cold medina on karaoke evenings) and did her version of the time warp straight into them. Sorry about that!
Despite the rain it was still lovely along the foreshore.
"why can't we stand under cover?" Rocky asks.
Me waiting for Zuma to stop hogging the water dish.

Honourary greyhound and Rocky's flatmate Lainey was catching raindrops on her nose.

Mmmm... coffee and hot chocolates after the walk.

Well Readers, we just got the walk in as it was starting to thunder again as we left Wynnum so we didn't get the catch up as much as we would have liked to. We arrived home to this so I guess I will have to make the best of it and have a snooze this afternoon.

Bye for now from a very soggy house of hound. Until next time - Murphy.

Prancer Is At It Again

Hi Readers, you may recall Prancer visited a school a few weeks back to promote greyhounds as pets and dog safety.

Well he was at it again yesterday - the big guy paid a visit to the Strathpine day kennel kindergarten which is somewhere that humans leave their pups during the day. Prancer was there with Mum and Aunty Gail and had a great time meeting all the children and giving out cuddles. I hope I get to go soon!

Prancer loved meeting all the students while Gail and Bronny spoke about dog safety.

Anyway Readers, I'm a little tired of hearing about Prancer's exploits so I'm off for dinner. Until next time - Murphy.
